Thankful Thursday

Today I am so thankful for my Miracle Muffins cookbook! I have had this for several years. I don't remember when or where I purchased it, but I have used it a lot. All the recipes we have tried everyone liked. Brayden's favorite is the Fresh Cranberry Muffins. I buy the cranberries this time of year and freeze them so we can have them longer. I make the Fresh Blueberry Muffins in the summer with the blueberries we grow and then when we run out of those I get them when they are on sale at the grocery store. I can't decide which ones are my favorite because I like them all. And they are low fat. They are also the biggest muffins I have ever made!

Some of the ingredients include buttermilk and ricotta cheese. I don't normally use these things except for these muffins. And one big can of pumpkin will yield 4 batches of muffins. Since making homemade muffins is so time consuming and some of the ingredients go bad quickly, I mix all the wet ingredients together and put it in Ziploc freezer quart bags. Then I label what it is, the date, the cookbook and page and put what I need to add (dry ingredients). The night before I put it in the fridge to thaw and mix the remaining ingredients in the morning when I am ready to bake them. Sometimes I even mix the dry ingredients in my big mixing bowl the night before, cover with plastic wrap and then add the wet ingredients in the morning right before I bake them.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for a few things. I am thankful that I don't have pink eye or some other contagious eye thing. I have had an itchy eye for several days and it then turned to a hurting, burning and blurry eye. I was able to get to the eye Dr. today and found out all the rubbing I did over the weekend due to allergies caused an abrasion on my eye. So now I have one dilated eye and one not. I hope it lasts long enough for the boys to see it because I have a feeling they will think it is pretty cool.

I am also trying to be thankful for Blaine's innocence. I guess this could be categorized as that. He asked me this morning if cars had been invented yet when I was a little girl. I politely explained that my 91 year old Grandpa had cars when he was little. I can remember trying to understand things like that and asking my parents and grandparents things that probably made them feel old. One of my favorites was asking my Grandma about...guys might want to stop reading here....pads and tampons. Did they have them? No. What did they use? Rags. OOHHHH....that's where that came from.

I don't know how I got off on that tangent but I guess I should be thankful for feminine products now.

I am thankful that my in laws have two vehicles. I am having my torque converter replaced today and they are letting me borrow their car. They have a Honda Accord. But after driving a van for almost 3 years I did feel like I was driving a go-cart down the interstate. That was a weird feeling.

Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for the way Bryson talks! I love it! It is so fun to watch his expressions as he is trying to explain something to us. He is starting to talk in great detail now but sometimes he can't figure out a word to describe something so he acts it out.

The boys have been asking him to repeat a word that he says and I couldn't figure out why. I wasn't sure if it was his facial expression or just the way he said it.

"Bryson...say broken!"

He would say it and they would laugh. They were getting so tickled their eyes were tearing up. I hid and watched to see what was going on. Then I heard one tell the other what it sounded like. I would have never figured it out if I had not heard them say it, but it sounds like he is saying a bad word. And to a 3rd and 6th grader, that is the funniest thing in the world. Boy humor. So I put a stop to that real quick.

My favorite thing he does now is when he wants the boys to play with them and they are watching T.V. and ignoring him. "Bane! Baynen! Pay wiff me!" He walks up, turns off the T.V., and then stands and watches them. They start hollering for him to turn it back on, and of course, he stands there, throws his head back and laughs at them. It can be very entertaining.

Some other things he says now are:

Weed-eed-eater......that' when daddy uses the weed eater. It's like he is a scratched record and gets stuck when he says it.

Weedo.......weirdo (gotta love the influence of older brothers.)

"I like Ci'mon lattes too mommy!".....that is what he tells me when we go by Starbucks, as he bobs his head up and down trying to convince me to stop because he likes Cinnamon Dolce Lattes.

"Dats Hanna Tanna mommy! I lytch Hanna Tannah!" .....that's I like Hannah Montana.

Why is it when you try to remember stuff they say so you can write it down you draw a blank? I need to start carrying a note pad in the car with me because that is usually when he is talking and cracking me up!

Thankful Thursday

So this is my first ever Thankful Thursday post and some of you are going to think I am awful when you read what I am thankful for this week!

I am SOOOOO thankful that school starts back on Monday! I am ready to go back to a regular schedule, regular meals and regular bed times. I am sick and tired of my kids fighting because they are bored to death. I am tired of the blood. Seriously. Blaine has picked so many fights with Brayden in the past few weeks and it seems like most of them have ended up with HIM bleeding when Brayden retaliates. Will he ever learn to pick on someone his own size instead of someone who is more than double his weight? I guess you say that he is a slow learner.

But to end on a positive note, I am also thankful for the time we have gotten to spend together. Monday I took Blaine to do his school shopping and then he got to go to work with me. He grabbed my hand in the parking lot and told me we had been needing some special time with nobody else around and he was right! He got an icee and a pretzel from Target for being so good and cooperative while we shopped. Then he got to pick where we ate lunch and he picked Steak-Out.

Brayden got to go get school supplies on Tuesday and then on to work. He didn't want an icee. He wanted a cookies and cream milkshake from Chick-Fil-A so we grabbed lunch there and he got a milkshake for being so good. Then he helped me send out statements by licking envelopes. He didn't last long because he kept getting paper cuts on his tongue. In case you are wondering why I don't have one of those spongy things to wet the envelopes, Bryson broke it and we had to go to plan B. Brayden.
