Okay, so maybe it is! Stephen found a recipe on Food Network over the weekend and decided that he was cooking dinner last night. When he told me what it was, I had a hard time not gagging in front of him. He was reading out the list of ingredients to me and when I heard ground turkey, to be honest with you, I stopped listening. I don't have a problem trying something new (with a small list of things that I will never put in my mouth) but I had tried making a recipe probably ten years ago with ground turkey and none of us could eat it. I even mixed it half and half with ground beef and it was still nasty. So when Stephen told me he was going to make this I tried very hard to tell him he wouldn't like it, I wouldn't like it, and the kids sure weren't going to eat it.
I went to get the big boys from Blaine's practice and gave them the speech on the way home.
"If you don't like it, it's okay to say so, but don't be rude and tell Stephen he should never cook again." And so on.
We get home and the boys were looking scared. I think I was, too! He sat it all in front of us and the boys were starving so of course, they dug in. They loved it!
Stephen looks at me and says, "You told them to tell me they liked it, didn't you?"
I explained not exactly, but I had told them not to be rude if they didn't.
So I sat down thinking to myself how I have found maybe two recipes that all five of us will eat (which are both desserts) and that I am going to be the one that won't like it. I tasted it and it was really good! It was so good, the boys have put it at the top of the favorites list! So I am posting a link for you to find it here!
And did I mention that he even did the grocery shopping for all this and cleaned up the kitchen? I told him he was HIRED!!
Enjoy!

The 100% white meat ground turkey is sort of nasty (as is ground chicken), but the ground turkey that isn't 100% white is alright.
We use it all the time for tacos, spaghetti, vegetable soup, chili... if it calls for ground beef and has a sauce, the turkey will work.
We use the frozen ground turkey that Aldis sells for $1.25/lb.
Mind that the turkey we buy has a higher fat content than the 100% white -- which is probably why it tastes better.
Wow! Go Stephen! The only thing Tony ever cooks is Jambalaya from a box. It's pretty good, but he would never find a recipe and try to cook it. I'm impressed.
I always knew that Stephen was a keeper! Maybe he should pass along this trait to Andrew :)
Great! Didn't take Stephen for a chef. I have to admit, I am not a chef myself. Josh loves to cook so he actually does most of it. But Stephen needs to teach him how to clean up after himself. I usually have to clean it up later. And did I mention that he uses every bowl and utensil that we own?
