Sew and Tell Friday

Today is Sew and Tell Friday at Amy Lou Who's. Click here and go see what everyone else had been up to!

This past Friday after I finished Bryson's snowman pajamas, I finished up something that I had already started. Already started as in I had cut the squares out a couple of weeks ago but had not had time to lay them out and get them sewn.

The tutorial came from here and is called a recycled bath mat. But I didn't need a bath mat. I wanted something pretty and colorful to put under my dish drying rack in the kitchen because I have always just used a dish towel. So I decided this would do the job. I cut 3"squares from some scraps that matched my dishes. My canisters go with my dishes and sit on the counter so I wanted them to go together. It took 72 squares in all....8 across and 9 down. Then I used an old towel to back it with. We received some new towels for Christmas so I had a few that weren't good enough to donate because the edges were all unraveling and looked bad but weren't bad enough to throw away. I didn't embroider it like in the tutorial. Mainly because I thought little feet would be silly in my kitchen and I couldn't come up with anything better so I just sewed across the middle in the ditch and once vertically in the ditch to hold it all together.

I am somewhat pleased with how it looks except for one thing. I should have used my walking foot to sew those in the ditch lines. It did pucker a little on one side, so I just turned it to where I don't have to look at it. But I know it is still there....

Have a look!

Thanks for visiting!

Love it!! You are so crafty! I recognize the orange/green polka dot fabrics. I borrowed those to make the kids Christmas shirts :)
